Hi,
I'm looking to buy a new 12 GA Semi Auto Shotgun and wanted to get feedback on the following models:
Remington 11-87 sportsman
Benelli M2
Winchester SX3
Pricing is approx 600, 1100, and 900 bux respectively.
What are the Pro's/Con's to each type in regards to weight, recoil, muzzle climb, cleaning, overall durability, and whatever else you can think of.
Primarily using this gun for goose, duck, turkey, pheasant, grouse, maybe small game, skeet, maybe in the future deer or buy a second gun for that.
Currently own a 12 GA Pump Mossberg 500 30 " fully choked 3" chamber that is around 30 - 35 years old. I love the gun, it shoots well for me, fits well, puts me on birds very well. I see hardly a difference in weight, fit, swing, etc between this and the 11-87 sportsman. I do see signifcant weight difference between these two guns and the M2 and the SX3. The forehand on the M2 seems a bit smaller too. At anyrate any and all opinions, viewpoints, etc would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex |

Having had several 1100's & several 390/391's, I can vouch for the quality and dependability of each. Not sure the Winchester will hold up to the pounding its gonna get from practice, practice, practice, plus your shoots. The Benelli, Remington or Beretta are all high quality weapons that will last tens of thousands of rounds with a little maintenance. What fits you best and what you are comfortable shooting is most important.
I don't own a Benelli or Winchester but have shot a few. Very nice, but not as soft a shooter as the 1100.
Any of these guns will work for hunting; it'a a different story when you shoot a few hundred rounds a day at clays. You will appreciate some weight to the gun to damper recoil.
The 1100's are almost bulletproof; you need to keep 'em clean & carry some barrel seal O-rings. My 391's fit great, shoot well, but are a little finicky. I've never had a failure with an 1100. I couldn't choose between the two , so I have both! But, when I want to shoot for score, I grab the 1100...
Good luck! _________________ With Guns we are Citizens...Without Guns we are Subjects |
